Insights & takeaways from GPUG 2019 Summit!

We are freshly back from User Group Summit this year in beautiful Orlando. The Paramount WorkPlace booth in the Expo hall was a busy spot, and our team genuinely enjoyed meeting new prospects and reconnecting with current customers and business partners. Those of you who attended will likely share my perception that the Microsoft Dynamics community is larger and more engaged than ever, with 365 Business Central responsible for much of the energy.

While I was there, I took part in an Enterprise Software Podcast with hosts Bob McAdam and Darcy Boerio. I was joined by several professionals who are influential players in the Microsoft Dynamics space, sharing their thoughts on the present and the future of the solutions. I shared our organization’s commitment to delivering spend management solutions to Dynamics users, while other guests on the podcast shared insights on Dynamics training, ISV (independent software vendor) solutions, end-user perspectives and more. I came away from this conversation—as well as dozens of other conversations over the course of Summit—with a few insights to share.

A growing momentum for Business Central

There is clearly growing momentum of companies making the transition to Business Central. Microsoft announced that it now has 4,000 companies live on Business Central. That number is expected to grow exponentially in the coming months and years as the solution gains a foothold and third-party solutions become available to fill niche needs. We announced our spend management solutions’ integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in 2018, and interest among both partners and customers has been strong ever since.

At last year’s Summit, most ISVs simply hadn’t made the jump to Business Central. But this year, many add-on solutions—including Paramount WorkPlace—are available and ready to go. This is clear evidence of a significant and welcome momentum that we expect to continue to gain traction. In the podcast, you’ll hear Kim Peterson, in the Dynamics space for 37 years, share how she helps partners and end customers find ISV solutions to meet their needs.

Microsoft Dynamics holds strong

While Business Central is generating a lot of buzz, Microsoft is not backing off its commitment to Dynamics. In fact, Microsoft has released a product roadmap through 2024, and is stepping up the release cycle, delivering new features and functionality each year. Paramount WorkPlace first introduced our integration with Microsoft Dynamics back in 2000 and we’ve remained fully committed to Microsoft ERP solutions ever since. Our spend management solutions integrate with Microsoft Dynamics GP, SL, AX and NAV (as well as many other mid-market and enterprise ERPs).

Nashville will host Summit 2020 from October 6-9, 2020. The event is being renamed Community Summit, and for the first time, Dynamics SL will have a major presence.
